What’s included

  • Commercial-grade warm-white C9 LED lights, UL listed and rated for outdoor use, on rental for the season.
  • Clips, never nails, on gutters and shingles.
  • A timer, set to your hours.
  • One free service call if a run goes dark.
  • The January takedown and storage until next year.

Dates

Installs run until December 18, as long as the roof is safe to work on. Takedowns run January 4 to 25. Boston collects Christmas trees Dec 28–Jan 2 and Jan 4–8, 2027, and won’t take a tree that still has lights or ornaments.

Safety and local rules

Massachusetts requires a licensed electrician for wiring work. We never touch wiring: lights plug into an existing GFCI-protected outdoor outlet, and a new outlet behind a TV is a job for a licensed electrician.

  • Lights rated for outdoor use, with no more than three strings connected together, as the safety authorities advise.
  • Every run plugs into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet. No outdoor outlet? A licensed electrician installs one first; we can recommend one.
  • Ladders stay well clear of overhead power lines.

Your own lights

Have your own outdoor-rated lights? We install them along the front roofline (up to 80 ft) and take them down in January for $449. Every strand is tested first: frayed or failed strands are not installed, as fire services recommend.

Questions

How much does Christmas light installation cost in Greater Boston?

With UpkeepGo: $799 for a one-storey front roofline, $999 for a two-storey front roofline and $1,549 for the whole house, lights, installation, a service call and the January takedown included.

Do I keep the lights?

Rental packages include January takedown and storage. We quote the next season separately. If you choose the own-lights package, the lights stay yours.

Will the clips damage my roof or gutters?

No. Clips grip the gutter lip or slide under the shingle edge; nothing is nailed or screwed.

Can you do permanent lights?

Permanent, hard-wired lighting is electrical work for a licensed electrician. Ask us and we pass your request to one.

Can I choose colours?

Warm white is standard. Multicolour or cool white is available on request at the same price while stock lasts.
